No other company has raised so much in the fight against
breast cancer.
The health and well-being of women has been a fundamental
focus for Avon. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade raises funds
and awareness in 50 countries to support access to care and
help find a cure. We're proud to note that by the end of 2003,
more than $300 million in funding had been returned to breast
cancer care and research organizations worldwide. No other
company has raised so much money or awareness in the fight
against breast cancer.
Key to the success of the Avon Crusade are dedicated Representatives
around the world who have generated millions of dollars by
selling special "pink ribbon" products. Joining them in Avon's
uniquely grassroots approach are thousands of Avon Associates,
customers and private citizens, all of whom support a wide
array of fundraising initiatives.
In Canada, Avon Independent Sales Representatives have
raised close to $10 million for breast cancer research.
Avon donates all funds raised to the Canadian Breast Cancer
Research Alliance (CBCRA).The CBCRA is the primary funder
of breast cancer research in Canada. It is a unique partnership
of public, private and non-profit organizations who are collectively
funding top breast cancer research in Canada.
In the past 10 years, the CBCRA allocated $102 million to
319 different breast cancer research projects across the entire
spectrum of breast cancer research, including prevention,
early detection, treatment, fundamental laboratory investigations,
quality of life and health services.
"We now know that one day we will be able to control breast
cancer, to make it a non-life threatening disease. This is
more than a hope, more than a prayer. When? If we can maintain
the momentum through breast cancer research, some predict
we can beat cancer within the next 10 years. LET'S DO IT!
"
